I totally agree, Democrats have been horrible fighters and defensive politicians for as long as I have been voting (the 1960's). Their passivity has lead to voter passivity and the old trope that both parties are the same so why vote.

I think we have to add to our platform the expansion of the Supreme Court, otherwise the court will continue to undermine any legislation or regulations that the Dems manage to pass...and we need to explain to voters exactly why it is so important to do so.

I largely agree with your analysis.

Durbin behaves like a terrified mouse...afraid even to issue subpoenas at a time when even mon-MAGA Republicans and Independents are cynical about the Court.

Democrats cannot blindly cling to institutions when those institutions are paving the road to autocracy.

The Court must be reformed. I disagree that Roberts, et al are persuadable. They're not. This block simply wants to kill reforms and protections by 1,000 cuts vs all at once ala Alito and Thomas.

Even if the Democrats miraculously win in 2024, without significant and bold changes to institutions (vs propping up rotted and corrupted facsimiles of institutions), our rights will continue to erode and polarization will continue to grow.

Thank you Jordan. Those who stand for democracy-stand up and fight! Quit being so nice. Call it like it is. It’s a fight.
