I appreciate your efforts and your cleverness. I think funding organizing like Florida Rising or other on the ground groups in Florida is more effective in bringing change. Does all your stunts while fun really change any votes? Or at best make a one day media story?
I don't mean to be harsh- I could be totally wrong. Let me know your thinking on this.
Hey Peter! Not harsh at all, totally legitimate question. We're actually working on something with Florida Rising right now for the newsletter that will help them raise money and get more resources. More on that soon!
The thought behind the billboards and banners is that they help to rally people against DeSantis and shed his seeming invincibility. He has this tough guy image that we want to strip away, because then it makes him seem more beatable. Activism and organizing is tough when people see something as a lost cause.
He also dominates the airwaves in Florida, and the Democratic Party in the state isn't particularly adept at countering that with media. If we can force local news stations to regularly cover things that mock DeSantis instead of just airing his bully press conferences, we think that helps to sow the seeds of change.
I agree with you 100% that the grassroots stuff and organizing is most important. But with a force like DeSantis, we have to also humiliate him so as not to allow him to become seemingly unstoppable in people's minds. Think of it as taking down his defenses, while the organizing can raid the inside.

Thanks for all that you do.
