I would love to see Cori Bush make a challenge for her old seat, but I think she would be better off running as an independent. This could be true for some other safe HR seats. I’m not advocating a new party, but I don’t think we should be dogmatic about running as Dems. Bernie made the same point.

The fence riders and the “I am just here for the money” Dems have to go. These bums are lead anchors on the Party. Here is a suggestion for the rest of the Democratic Congress. How about having some wins before you take a break! And let’s definitely get rid of Schumer. He can’t even keep 44 Dems in line. He was a bum in the House & now he is just an old bum in the Senate. I'm from Europe where donations to politicians put you IN JAIL. The primary process and the involved money you described is the reason why true progressives are fools if they think things can improve without taking money out of politics. Which can't be done without changing the supreme Court, which can't happen without changing how the Senate is elected, which can't change with the current constitution. This is why secession is seriously the only way for some parts of America. Also as a European, people on the left don't understand the level of personal hate that comes from Republicans, which are not normal political differences.
It's a big leap from repealing the Citizens United ruling to secession. I'm not an expert but I believe that an act of Congress can change election financing. It won't be easy. Republicans knew what they were doing when they put their stooges on the Supreme Court.

Excellent piece! Democratic leadership is so ossified and corrupt they might as well cross the floor. It's really frustrating to watch the Trump dumpster fire expecting the fire engines to show up at any moment but realize they're still in the firehouse playing checkers wondering why someone won't shut off that annoying alarm. I'm Canadian and I fear Trump doing to our country what he did to the Republican Party and now the whole USA. There's going to be tons of awful rhetoric coming and I hope people on both sides of the border realize that most of us are victims of the same attack.
We won’t make it to the primaries at this rate. If they won’t lead, they must be replaced by those who will.
This implies we will have free elections which is not in the cards at the moment.
We should see people for who they are.
