Arizonan here, thanks for the interview with Christine Marsh. Just made a donation. AZ needs reasonable, State legislators. I also donate to Senator Mitzi Epstein, Rep. Stacey Travers and Rep. Patty Contreras. They do excellent work in LD12.

Thanks Jordan for your great work.

Based on your story on Christine Marsh, I have contributed to her campaign; she sounds like a terrific person and legislator.

The Teamsters' president is not doing his constituency any favors with a non-endorsement of Harris-Walz; Trump and his cohorts would continue their work to neutralize and destroy labor unions. Hopefully, that will change due to internal pressure on O'Brien in time for a positive endorsement to be made known.

Sen. Marsh really impressed me. I interviewed her when she first ran for office, and now six years later, she’s an accomplished legislative leader. She’s diplomatic but doesn’t pull punches, either. When she talks, you take it seriously, and after three decades in the classroom, she can deliver quite a sharp reprimand with only a few words. While not an ideologue, you can tell she’s driven by empathy.

Regarding the Teamster's, this is the same kind of bullshit that drove many people away from the Unions. It is why unions have been dead for so long. They are just like Republicans, if they don't get direct benefit, they don't want to play. Lack of vision on their part means no commitment on my part.

Unions have certainly in some cases been led by selfish and flawed individuals, but their long decline has far more to do with deindustrialization, corporate power, and political conservativism.

Weakening protections, sending jobs overseas, and turning good jobs into piecemeal gig work have shattered the ability for workers to organize and depleted the ranks of existing unions. Even the most competent labor leaders could not have prevented the past 40 years of constant assaults from the very top of the food chain.

When Reagan was President he essentially disemboweled the Air Traffic Controllers Union and it was probably illegal but not overturned. This was the beginning of your generations attitude shift regarding unions. I talked to so many young people who felt unions had too much power and they did not want to hear about wages and benefits or working conditions. l was shocked by the their ignorance. And they still haven't found Jimmy, have they?

O'Brien's indecision and his seeming ignorance of Trump's convictions and not considering the unanswered indictments, just astounds me. He had better hope that Harris does not win. That woman can hold a grudge and wait for the right moment to retaliate. And she has a memory like a room full of honkies that don't ever forget... Most guys are disarmed by her great smile but she is inherently tough. She will be a great President.

My comments are not anti-union. I belonged to unions most of my working life and was grateful for the things they did for me.

I think an important to distinguish between locals and the national union. Like all human institutions, unions are diverse and imperfect, but they still deliver vastly superior results for workers than in unorganized industries. The perfect is the enemy of the good.
